About The Home Daycare Program

Our Home Daycare offers a warm, family-style environment where children are encouraged to grow, explore, and thrive. Rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, this program is designed to support early learning through curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery.

Set in a cozy, intimate setting, our Home Daycare welcomes up to 16 children, guided by 3 caring and experienced educators. This smaller group size ensures a healthy child-to-teacher ratio, allowing for meaningful relationships and personalized attention for each child.

Provocations

A provocation is anything that provokes the imagination, inspires, creates beauty, intrigues, and spurs curiosity. Children use items in a provocation to make sense of the world around them.  Using the child's perspective, the possibilities of ideas are endless.

There are two types of provocations, child Interest Based Provocations – These provocations built upon and expanded student ideas, interests, and wonderings. Standards Based Provocations – These provocations are built upon and expanded state mandated objectives and standards. The materials and tasks set out to achieve the standards and goals that are mandated.

Projects

Projects provide the backbone of the children’s and teachers’ learning experiences. They are based on the strong convictions that learning by doing is of great importance and that to discuss in group and to revisit ideas and experiences is the premier way of learning. Project ideas come from experiences of the children and teachers, a chance event or problem posed. They can last from a few days to several months.

Documentation

Documentation is displayed or easily accessible to teachers, children and families to:

  • provide a record of the learning process

  • reveal connections between events

  • review past experiences

  • plan future experiences

  • make learning visible to children and families

  • honor children's words

  • honor children's families

Don't forget technology.  Video recorders, PowerPoint presentations, iPads, digital photo frames and tape recordings are an effective way for teachers to document, communicate and reflect on children's learning.

What is Reggio Emilia Approach to Learning?

The Reggio Emilia Approach is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education which values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it.

The Reggio Emilia Approach originated in the town (and surrounding areas) of Reggio Emilia in Italy out of a movement towards progressive and cooperative early childhood education.

It is unique to Reggio Emilia. It is not a method. There are no international training colleges to train to be a Reggio Emilia teacher. Outside of the town of Reggio Emilia, all schools and preschools (and home schools) are Reggio-inspired, using an adaptation of the approach specific to the needs of their community.

This is important, as each student, teacher, parent, community, and town are different. No two Reggio-inspired communities should look the same, as the needs and interests of the children within each community will be different.

Home Daycare Program

Terre Haute Trusted Daycare

10/10. My oldest boy has been going for 2 years and my youngest boy has been going for 1, his whole life. My girls also attend there for before/after school care and school breaks. Absolutely love the staff! I trust leaving my children they. They have been very accommodating to my youngest’s health problems. Therapy is able to come in as well! All 4 of my children love the daycare and teachers. They always have a blast!
